Welcome to Bite Sized English!
I want to welcome you to Bite Sized English! My name is Toby and I’m and English teacher in Dresden, Germany. I made this website to help people who are learning English, or who have learned English. If English isn’t your native language, then this page is for you!
The idea is simple: a little bit of English practice every day is all you need to improve your English. These ‘bite sized’ English lessons are what you’ll find at Bite Sized English.com ever weekday. (And often on weekends, too!) These lessons will include reading and listening. And, because we all know that understanding is only half of using English, feel free to use the comments to practice your English. I’ll correct what you post there.
How Does the Listening Work?
If your computer has the Adobe Flash Player installed, you will see a ‘play button’ like the one on the left here at the top of this page. If you can see the play button at the left (it’s not a player, only a graphic) but not at the top, you need to install the Flash Player from this website.
Sometimes the listening will be exactly the same text as what you read on the website. More often, though, the listening will be related to, but different from what you see on the website. This is to challenge you to understand only by listening, not by reading.
How Should I Use Bite Sized English?
How you choose to use Bite Sized English is up to you. The important thing is that you find what works for you, and do it. But, I did have a few ideas about how you might use it when I started planning the website:
- First, there is this: there’s a lot of listening on the website. And that means you can practice your listening.
- Second, there are the eWorksheets. The collection isn’t complete, but I’m making more all the time. They’re the best way I’ve found to give grammar lessons over the Internet. And, because I believe in practice, there are a lot of exercises with solutions in each eWorksheet.
- Third, every entry ends with questions for you. This is your chance to be heard! Answer the questions as comments at the bottom of the page and come back later to check: I’ll correct the comments, so that you don’t ‘practice your mistakes.’
What Do I Do Now?
