When I asked for suggestions for different topics at Bite Sized English (I’m always interested in topics you’d like to cover. Feel free to contact me anytime), the first suggestion I got was to talk more about Dresden. And so, today we’re going to hear me telling a little bit about Dresden.
Before You Listen to The Recording
Think for a moment about the information you’d give about your hometown. If you did a five minute description, what would you tell us? (If you want to tell us, leave a recording below, or email me an MP3, I’d be glad to hear it.) Do you think I’ll be giving you the same information about Dresden?
Also, do you know much about the city of Dresden? Have you read Kurt Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse Five?” Maybe even visited the city? Think about any information you already have about the city.
And now start the recording.
After You’ve Heard the Recording
Well? Are you ready to visit Dresden? Have I interested you in my hometown at all? If you’re interested in the city—and I hope I’ve interested you some—here’s some more reading you can do on Dresden (in English, of course!):
-
I think the Wikipedia page is a good place to start.
-
Lonely Planet has a good overview of the city, and
-
Dresden’s homepage has even more information.
I hope you’re a little more interested in my hometown, now. I’m still interested to hear about your hometown. And tomorrow, we’ll be hearing about Amsterdam!
