Some Changes Are Coming
I don’t want you to think that I’m doing anything but experimenting at Bite-Sized-English.com right now. My goal is to find the best way to help you practice and improve your English over the Internet. I don’t promise that I have it. If you have suggestions, never hesitate to contact me.
You might have noticed a few things about the way I’ve been doing things so far: at first, there was a text with some vocabulary words. And each week had a topic of some kind: describing work, describing people, talking about civil rights. I like having week-long themes, because it gives time for more ‘bite sized’ portions of listening on one topic. That means you get more chances to practice what you’re learning.
Last week, there was a change: instead of reading a text, I started trying to talk more freely in the listening exercises. I think that this is better for you: it’s the way you’ll hear people speaking English, when you talk to them. But, it also means that there wasn’t as much vocabulary introduced.
This coming week, we’re going to try something different.
On Monday, I’ll let you know what the topic is going to be for the week. (Yes, I know what it is now, but I like the extra element of suspense) and I’ll read the ‘definitions’ (I really prefer the word ‘introductions’) of the vocabulary you’ll hear during the week. The reason is simple: You’ll have a chance to expand your vocabulary, three extra listening exercises, and a quiz on Friday. How great is that?
And if you want to practice the vocabulary yourself, go right ahead: at the end of each listening exercise you’ll find many questions to encourage you to write an answer in English. And, of course, I’ll offer any help I can in the comments.
And if there are any topics you’d like to see at Bite-Sized-English.com, just let me know!
